Social Support & Mentoring

A support worker who's actually someone you look forward to seeing. For participants building social confidence, life skills, or just wanting a regular companion with shared interests.

Social Support & Mentoring covers

Companionship

Regular visits from someone who genuinely wants to spend time with you. Tea, walks, chats, hobbies.

Confidence building

Practising conversations, navigating new places, small steps to bigger independence.

Life-skills mentoring

Cooking, budgeting, shopping, using tech, social media literacy, safety online and offline.

Hobby & interest support

Art, gaming, music, sport, faith-based activities, book clubs, maker spaces.

Peer-style support

Young adults with workers in a similar age bracket. Makes the whole dynamic feel normal, not clinical.

Recovery-focused

For participants on a recovery coach plan or building after a mental health episode. Trauma-informed workers.

Skills we screen for

Not every worker is a fit for every participant. Here's what we check before a profile lands in your inbox.

Genuine shared interest in your activity or hobby
Similar age bracket if that matters to you
Experience working with autism, ADHD, mental health, or your specific condition
Non-judgmental, warm communication style (we interview for this)
Culturally aligned where it matters, faith, language, community
Consistent, we source for workers who want long-term matches, not filling gaps

About social support & mentoring

It's paid professional support with the quality of a genuine connection. The worker still has boundaries, reports, and accountability. But the vibe should feel warm, not clinical.
Yes. Social support works alongside recovery coaches and is often the practical arm of a recovery plan.
We ask real questions in the referral, interests, energy level, conversation style, pet peeves. Then we brief workers before the meet & greet so they're coming in prepared, not guessing.
Tell us. We rematch. No cost, no pressure. Chemistry is the whole point of this service line.

What to expect

No two shifts are the same, but here's the rhythm most of our workers follow.

Arrive on time, dressed for the activity. Punctuality is a basic, and it's something we screen for.
Check in with the participant first. A proper hello, a read of the mood, a brief chat about how the day is going.
Follow the agreed plan. Routines and rosters matter. Workers stick to what's been agreed unless the participant wants to change.
Keep clear notes. Every shift ends with a quick log, what was done, anything worth flagging, any ideas for next time.
Wrap up properly. Hand over cleanly, confirm the next shift, say goodbye. Professional but warm.
